It shows the growth of social media and how it continues to grow exponentially.
Social Networking for business is becoming more important everyday. It is a vital part of business and many companies are reliant on sites like Facebook and Twitter. If you go on any website, you are more than likely to find a Facebook and twitter logo to link it to your own Facebook or Twitter account. Companies are using this to reach out to the whole world. As noted in the powerpoint above, Dell generated $6.5 million in Twitter alone. Comcast set up a Twitter account and it has helped over 150,000 people. Starbucks gave its customers a voice, and it now has over 50,000 new product ideas.
People have recognized the importance of what is going on. Facebook is a site that will come to define our generation. Mark Zuckerberg has been named Time Magazine's "Person of the Year." Zuckerberg has created a phenomenon that has involved over 500 million people. To quote The Wall Street Journal, "Breathe, eat, drink, sleep, defecate, and check Facebook: these make up a significant portion of a very short list of daily activities that you have in common with a quarter of a billion other humans. One item on this list is somewhat different from the rest." We are so obsessed with this idea that it is becoming apart of everyday life, and it was even made into a movie, The Social Network, directed by David Fincher, starring Jessie Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, and Justin Timberlake. It looks to be an early favorite to win an Oscar for Best Picture.

Companies Using Social Media
Almost all companies have a twitter and Facebook to appeal to the younger generations. Most companies have engaged in the social media world, due to the fact that most business and appeal is done through computers and developing technology.
Companies also use Twitters and Facebook to tag their company in order to find any problems or complaints customers have with
Oracle changed its home page for two weeks. They asked for customer feedback. The involvement was enough to "interrupt the normal flow," which helped out the company.
H & R Block started a Facebook page where they only offer tax advise. You can only get advice from the Facebook website. This gives them more dimensions than just "Come do your taxes with us."
Skittles has an interactive Facebook page. The company occasionally steps in with light and fun comments such as..
"A recent series of messages on the Skittles wall:
Derek says: Is it just me, or does there seem to be too many orange ones in the bags now? Skittles says: Derek despite what you or the Internet may think, we can assure you there is no orange skittles conspiracy - red on the other hand..."
As stated before, Starbucks offers a section on the website that asks for suggestions on how to make the company better. The CIO actually answers the questions and explains the technicalities of the ideas and how they will be implemented.
Also stated above, Frank Eliason, Director of Digital Care for Comcast Cable has a Twitter page that offers help to customers and followers.
